“Crown of Grace”

HWR original 11 x 14 mixed media art on a wood panel board.  This painting was inspired by a few things. I have been taking an incredible year long online art class called Paint Your Heart and Soul 2018. I say that it is incredible because there are 48 lessons teaching a multitude of techniques by several different talented artists. Now don’t yet too proud of me yet because it’s already late July and I’ve only done two lessons so far! Anyhoo, I don’t have time to paint often but a few weeks ago I logged in and decided to try a lesson by Lucy Brydon. It was a very deep and well taught lesson but the basic idea of the lesson was to collage a background with Gelli prints (I used 1890 old maps), trace and draw a silhouette (I traced and image from the spring 2017 issue of #bellagracemagazine ) paint the background dark and then work in some details. A few days before I started painting I did a custom jewelry piece that had an owl on one side and “get Wisdom, get Understanding” braced on Proverbs 4:5-9, on the other. For days the Lord kept that scripture close to my heart so it was meant to be.
